Plaster Corbels and Mouldings
Plaster products such as plaster corbels have always been the perfect medium for creating architectural items such as plaster corbels, as well as many other types of plaster moulding. These products are so commonplace that it is difficult to believe that they have been in use as far back as Egypt in 2500 BC. Plaster is such a ubiquitous product. Why is it that we have plaster throughout all modern properties? You would have expected it to be replaced by something else? Why use plaster on walls? The modern idea of putting plaster on walls to fire protect them was started by the French after seeing the effects of the Great Fire of London in 1666.
Our products have a finish called Herculite which is a plaster but with a very hard finish.
Use of Resin and Concrete Mouldings
Why use concrete mouldings or resin mouldings? Well the answer is simply to do with exterior use and weather resistance. Again the ideas are not new and the ideas go back to Roman times. Concrete mouldings and particularly resin are well suited to exterior conditions. The finishes available in these products can be inspected in our online Shop.
Matching Existing Materials
A common issue is not that of buying mouldings but of trying to restore an existing situation and trying to match an existing moulding such an old corbel. This may apply to interior and exterior situations. At the Period Casting Company we stock all the materials necessary for you to make a mould of an existing moulding, which can be returned to us as a template form which more moulding can be produced in the medium required and shipped to you in a quick and efficient manner to allow you to carry the project through to a satisfactory conclusion. On Site Activities
Our onsite work is limited to the UK for now, although we would be delighted to carry out contracts further afield if the opportunity arose!
In the UK the Period Casting Company undertakes all kinds of interior and exterior restoration work including restoration and cleaning cornices, ceilings and ornamental plaster work. In addition to this we also undertake plastering works in the contexts of rendering, fireproofing and waterproofing.
